The lodge is a beautiful place with stunning views. It's a 20 min walk from the small village of Azpeitia and a good place if you like to work hard. Ana, the owner, buys plenty of food for the volunteers and has a nice big vegetable/fruit garden that you can pick what you want at anytime. It's hard cleaning work but if you manage to talk to Ana and organize your schedule, hours, benefits, etc, you'll get a good deal. We sleep in comfortable beds in a shared room in the garage with bathroom, air conditioning, fan and we can wash our clothes at anytime. Ana, her kids and mother were lovely :)

Important to know this experience is mostly focused on heavy cleaning tasks, especially dust removal under beds/furniture and cleaning toilets. The amount of dust was difficult for me due to my allergy. The room is mixed, with 3 beds and no windows, so ventilation is limited. Schedule changes were frequent, making it hard to plan trips on days off. Food also became limited after a week, especially protein options. I wouldn't recommend it for people seeking cultural exchange with the host family, as interaction was minimal. Better for people comfortable with isolation and who likes to clean.

Raúl aceptó previamente las condiciones y tareas del voluntariado, que desde hace años se centran principalmente en limpieza y mantenimiento de la casa rural. Lamentamos que la experiencia no haya sido adecuada para él, aunque durante su estancia también hubo muchas dificultades por su parte: frecuentes quejas físicas y tareas básicas sin terminar. Intentamos siempre mantener un ambiente respetuoso y claro con todos los voluntarios...

My stay at the lodge was very tranquil and peaceful. Ana was very accommodating to anything I needed as a guest in her home and I enjoyed our time together. I was asked to do many jobs in any way I could help the community and I was glad to do it! Definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for place to enjoy nature and peace. The experience was nice overall and the little towns are cute but there's not much really happening. It's good to disconnect from big cities and tourists and connect with nature. Great for biking around. Don't hesitate to contact me for further details.

Mila ha sido una voluntaria encantadora. Ha sido muy responsable, trabajadora y comprometida durante toda su estancia en Baiolei. Siempre ha mostrado muy buena disposición para ayudar en las tareas y ha realizado su trabajo con mucho cariño y cuidado.
Además, ha sido un placer compartir estos días con ella. Es una persona amable, respetuosa y cercana, y se ha integrado muy bien con nuestra familia y con el ambiente de la casa.
