Volunteering at the lodge was my first experience of that kind and i look back very fondly on the time I spend there. Ana was pacient when it came to me figuring out how things are run and above all flexible with the working-dynamics taking my needs and personallity into account. More than that the family welcomed me lovingly and i feelt very included. Thanks to this time I feel like i put my roots jet into another corner of the Basque country. Eskerrik asko bihotz-bihotzez zure hitz politengatik! Guretzat ere oso esperientzia berezia izan da zu Baiolein izatea eta gure eguneroko bizitzako zati bat zurekin partekatzea.

Pozten naiz hemen etxean bezala sentitu izanaz, eta gure familiako kide sentitu izana jakiteak ilusio handia egiten dit. Guretzat garrantzitsua da pertsona bakoitza den bezalakoa izatea, eroso sentitzea eta bere lekua aurkitzea.

Zurekin Euskal Herriko txoko txiki bat partekatu ahal izana oso polita izan da!! Hurrenarte

The lodge is a beautiful place with stunning views. It's a 20 min walk from the small village of Azpeitia and a good place if you like to work hard. Ana, the owner, buys plenty of food for the volunteers and has a nice big vegetable/fruit garden that you can pick what you want at anytime. It's hard cleaning work but if you manage to talk to Ana and organize your schedule, hours, benefits, etc, you'll get a good deal. We sleep in comfortable beds in a shared room in the garage with bathroom, air conditioning, fan and we can wash our clothes at anytime. Ana, her kids and mother were lovely :)

Important to know this experience is mostly focused on heavy cleaning tasks, especially dust removal under beds/furniture and cleaning toilets. The amount of dust was difficult for me due to my allergy. The room is mixed, with 3 beds and no windows, so ventilation is limited. Schedule changes were frequent, making it hard to plan trips on days off. Food also became limited after a week, especially protein options. I wouldn't recommend it for people seeking cultural exchange with the host family, as interaction was minimal. Better for people comfortable with isolation and who likes to clean.

Raúl had previously accepted the conditions and duties of the volunteer program, which for years has focused mainly on cleaning and maintenance of the rural house. We regret that the experience was not suitable for him, although during his stay there were also many difficulties on his part: frequent physical complaints and basic tasks left unfinished. We always try to maintain a respectful and clear environment with all volunteers...

My stay at the lodge was very tranquil and peaceful. Ana was very accommodating to anything I needed as a guest in her home and I enjoyed our time together. I was asked to do many jobs in any way I could help the community and I was glad to do it! Definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for place to enjoy nature and peace. Thanks for everything Ana!

The experience was nice overall and the little towns are cute but there's not much really happening. It's good to disconnect from big cities and tourists and connect with nature. Great for biking around. Don't hesitate to contact me for further details.

Thank you Javier for the review, thank you for the recipes you made in our house, they were good times. I am very sorry not to practice English, it was difficult for me, and seeing that there were other tasks at home.... Many kisses and I hope we stay in touch
