The Experience

This is a very small hostel with a little bar/cafe downstairs. We are looking for someone to just help with making the beds and cleaning all common areas (rooms, recepyion, kitchen and bathrooms) and housekeeping tasks. We need someone to take care of the hostel upstairs and make sure that everything is OK. Tasks will take between 2 or 3 hours a day.

I really recommend applying for volunteering at the hostel : ) If you're interested in staying in Southern Europe, then it's almost stupid not to consider this one, its such a great opportunity. Rafael and Lucia who run it are very kind and extremely generous people, there's local life and culture without the stress of a bigger city and the workdays are short, so you'll have time for daytrips to beautiful Sintra, nature-experiences nearby and beaches that are also very good for surfing. The work is normally around noon, so if you're working online you can get stuff done both before and after

If you get the chance to get a spot at the hostel - take it!! It's the most amazing time and Lúcia will cook for you, and even though portugiese cuisine isn't really suitable for vegetarians they still make it work if you're fine eating omelette with fries and rice on busy restaurants days. :)

What a remarkable experience! Lucia, Rafael, Luis, and all the workers and friends of the host family are incredible :) It really was one of the best experiences I had in Portugal this time. I already miss them all... and I will definitely come back there again the next time I return to Portugal!

If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Praias das Maças is a cosy place. And Lucia, Rafael and his family made everything easy for me from the first moment! The tasks are simple and the atmosphere of the hostel is very good. My experience here has been unforgettable, and I know 100% that I will be back very soon!

Don't hesitate for a second to apply for this volunteer opportunity!!!! Lucia and Rafael are incredible people, the best hosts, you'll feel comfortable from the very first moment. You'll enjoy Sundays in their company and that of Domingo, their father. Plus, Lucía is an amazing cook and will teach you traditional Portuguese dishes. the hostel is a place with beautiful facilities, right in front of the beach and with an absolutely fascinating environment. It has a wonderful energy.
