The Experience

As we are a kind of language cafe, it is all spoken in English which means we need someone who can speak a good English. This cafe is for Koreans who want to practice English with foreigners and build good friendships. We welcome whoever open mined to the diversity and various cultures. To respect each other is really important since we have all different nationalities. It doesn't really matter though you're not from English speaking counties.

Volunteering at the language cafe was one of the best volunteer experiences I’ve had so far. The work environment is relaxed, informal and fun. At the same time, things work as they should - work hours and days off are respected, good accommodation and food are provided. Also, working at the cafe allows for a true cultural immersion. It’s great for connecting with locals and other foreign volunteers. Russell, the host, is extremely kind, helpful and resourceful, and often goes the extra mile to ensure you’re having a good experience. Will definitely miss this place!

I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 weeks volunteering at the language cafe in Daejeon, it’s an great opportunity to meet and chat to friendly locals as well as international travellers whilst learning about Korean culture. The hosts are helpful and they do their best to make sure you have a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend :)

I can easily say my experience was better than anything I imagined! The respectful, helpful, and constant caring environment was the key to my +2-month stay in the Language Studio, making me a bit nostalgic and sad even about having to leave. The staff made sure to keep the harmony and take care of us as much as they could. Also, really really great location!! The great memories will definitely make me want to go back.

The Language Studio is a great place to volunteer! I had conversations with many Koreans and often had fun talking with them. Russell really tries his best to make you feel welcomed and help with anything.
If you volunteer here, you will stay in an appartment with the other volunteers, which is cosy and fun! Meals were not provided but basics such as cereal, bread and ramyeon were. Daejeon is also a lovely place to stay, with a relaxed vibe and many restaurants. I had a great time, even though it was short!

This was my first volunteer experience and in my opinion I could not have been luckier. Through this experience I was able to build friendships with amazing people from all over the world. For me the work at the language studio was so much fun, so I looked forward to it everyday. The language studio is a great place to get to know people and to get to know a bit about the Korean culture.
