The Experience

I'm growing an edible forest on a former steep hill farm around my house. We deweed and trim a lot, plant and harvest, practice organic pest control, enhance soil quality, mulch, enjoy the view, help with household chores, relax. I am looking for hard working, nature loving, strong, proactive and independent, quiet people who like a hands-on experience in a beautiful setting and wish to spend time outdoors and in community.

It's almost impossible to put into words (let alone 600 characters) how much I've cherished this experience. The work was physical, sweaty, and so, SO rewarding. I learned so much during my stay, from permaculture practices and identifying different plants to properly using a variety of tools. Lisa is a wonderful teacher, super organized, and one of the hardest-working people I've ever met. She's generous with her time, knowledge, and incredible produce from the farm. Great conversations over delicious meals made the experience unforgettable, and I'd absolutely love to come back someday.

Early mornings, hard work, but rewarding. Lisa was very hospitable and made the stay feel like a home away from home. Yes the work was hard and the early mornings took some getting used to but once a routine was established it was a very rewarding experience that promoted personal growth and development. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to slow down from the accelerated pace of modern life, connect with nature, and learn about sustainable farming and living.

In a short time, i was able to push myself in ways i didn't know i could, and i feel so much more confident in myself because of it. i learned about farming and permaculture; it is like an intensive course in these subjects. the skills i learned with lisa, i will definitely apply in the future. es gran maestra, confíala. i learned about the history and culture of puerto rico. it was inspiring to visit other local farms and see community brigades in action, caring for the island through sustainable agriculture. mis respetos! gracias por dejarme formar parte de este gran proyecto ♥️

Lisa was a wonderful host and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to work on her farm. Everyday she taught me more about all of the different plants grown on the farm, farming techniques and tools, Puerto Rican culture, the Spanish language, and plant-based eating. The excursions on Saturdays and getting to visit other local farms was amazing as well. If you are an early riser, are ready for a lot of difficult but rewarding work, and want to learn more about farming in the tropics, I would definitely recommend. Thank you Lisa!
