Description

After covid, some of basic ingredient to cook risen between 20 to 100%. We need help within this area and also will be use to cover utility as well to wash the blanket, pillowcase and bedsheet for the next people. I never clock my people for the task and most of the time we will just chill out and eat. Homestay vibes assured. Most past volunteer regard their stay here as a break from their travel.

The Experience

Looking for people who are interested in immersing themselves in our local Malaysian culture. But of course when you stay with me..it would be from my perspectives. So the work are flexible, depending on situations, weather and other elements. Hosting people through Worldpacker though, I just want to make new friend. Longest person so far stay with me was 85 days and few peoples came back for more than 5 times. So the key is respect and kind.

If you wish to immerse yourself in a small rural village and learn the ins and outs of daily life then this is a great place! Zaki was incredibly wise in things that have always interested me so I felt very attained over my short stay. It was super eye opening and I found some of my new favourite foods thanks to Yati’s cooking. Zaki will say he talks too much but I regret not planning a longer stay so I could learn more from him. Overall I highly recommend, it was the coolest thing i’ve done so far in all my travels (:

I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to spend time with a Malaysian family; they will make you feel like part of the family. Thank you, Zaki and Yati, for being such wonderful, patient, and generous people and such great hosts. You hold a special place in my heart , along with Sofia and Comando jejej. Now I need to lose a few pounds thanks to your delicious food :) Hugs amigos queridos!

Spending time with Zaki and Yati was a highlight during my time in Malaysia. Zaki is a super fun, friendly, and interesting gentleman to be around. We had incredible conversations. Yati treated me like family, we had a great time. Food was delicious and the family food gatherings were something I looked forward to everyday. Zaki took me to an Islamic wedding, the nearby river, a couple of towns and the night markets. He also introduced me to his photographer friend that took amazing pictures of me. Work was really light, I helped Yati in the kitchen, washed dishes and helped cleaning.

What a lovely cultural exchange experience. Zaki and Yati welcomed me from the moment I stepped off the bus. What a lovely family that open their arms to you. Zaki is a very funny chatty man, and Yati is fun and great to talk to, the previously reviews weren’t lying…. There is so much delicious food we all enjoy together. Their Ian and Sophia are very sweet too. We had an outing to Raub, we did a big pizza night, they showed us the process of making bamboo shoots and we all pitched in around the kitchen area. Was a really relaxed time getting to see how they live. Thank you to all of you xx

If you're looking for a place to slow down, enjoy a simple lifestyle, and share meaningful conversations and great moments and good food, this is the perfect place for you.

Zaki and his family are incredibly kind and welcoming, and they truly make you feel at home. We will definitely come back if we have the opportunity.
