I cannot say enough positive things about this experience. Valerie and Rurico are kind and caring people who put their hearts into the healing center. They are a lovely couple with three adorable kids. The work is easygoing, and the shifts are flexible so that you still have time to do plenty with your day. Bijagua de Upala is a small town with so much natural beauty. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to explore and get to know this area! Thank you Valerie, Rurico, Justin, Juni and my fellow volunteers Karice and Yasmin, hopefully we will meet again! <3

I totally recommend this experience if you are looking to have time for yourself, to live immersed in nature and if you are interested to learn more about ceremonies. Hours are respected. Meals are delicious 😋 Don't hesitate to ask if it's not clear for you. I met beautiful souls : the family and the volunteers ❤️

Expectations for the childcare weren't clear, so I had to figure it out alone as Lauren was away. The surroundings were beautiful, a peaceful outdoor space. The 5 dollar meals were filling and nutritious. The toddlers were very cute and a pleasure to take care of. The ceremonies were great for focusing on different aspects of healing, some cancelled/changed last minute so I didn't experience all that I hoped. It's worth pre-planning for spare time, I didn't as I thought, as advertised, we would get free tours/ discounted. I really connected with other volunteer ❤️ Thank you for having me!🌙

Sophie im sorry you didnt get to experience all you wanted to but you did get a free tour to the waterfall and a free sweatlodge and you even though (as i had explained to you) both lauren and my husband rurico were to be away the first week of your stay, you still got to do quite a bit for a very short one week visit, usually we ask a 2 week minimum especially if you want to participate in several activities while you are here.

My experience in the Center was great! My tasks were taking care of the 2,5yo twins, the cleaning of the common areas and sometimes helping with the cooking (only cutting veggies). The area is truly stunning and living there is such a peaceful experience, as you can hear is the animal and nature sounds. I met new people, discovered the area, connect with nature and had time for myself. Food is really tasty and healthy, and the tent is cozy. I also loved participating in the yoga-reiki sessions with Lauren and the meditation one with Val. Thanks for having me :)
