The Experience

In both our, hotel and the Hardanger Basecamp, there is ongoing renovating and repairing. of rooms, yurts and public areas. The following skills and crafts are involved: carpentry, laying floor & wall tiles, plastering, mounting ceilings, electricity, placing wallpaper, painting. We would prefer a handyman who feels at home in most of these disciplines and has some experience. There is always someone in charge to instruct, brief, or teach

I worked at the Strandfjord hotel as a handyman. Every member of staff was so kind and welcoming. If you need help with a task, they'll be happy to show you how to do it. Everyone communicated in English. Accommodation and food were excellent. The village is wonderful and super quiet. It was a great work experience and it became even more because of the people who shared those moments with me. I hope one day to meet everyone again. There's much more to say about my experience in Ulvik, if you want to know, please msg me inbox. I will be grateful to help.

The experience was good, Vera is very lovely, she always was worried about my well-being, Evelyn is extremely kind and sweet she was always preparing the most delicious food I have ever tried, so healthy, fresh and so much tasty 😋, this volunteering help me to practice my English a lot and make friends I met the most amazing people I am so happy for that, I learned a new skill (painting)so that is awesome, just adding a point of view is that 6 days a week are too much so if you want to explore Norway it's a bit complicated would be nice for volunteering just do 5 days a week

This was a life changing experience for me. Would 100% recommend. I spent my first month at the Hardanger Basecamp in Osa. It is the most calming and incredible place I have ever been, its hard to describe really. In Osa I worked mainly with Robert and Vera. Robert is the Owner of the whole the host business and he will be hard on you but he will teach you more than you can possibly imagine and you will make you a better person. Vera was awesome and fun to talk to and is very understanding of the fact that your from a different place and culture. I would write more but I've reached the limit!

The activities of the hotel, restaurant and the activity center are covered mostly by volunteers, that is why sometimes the environment is more tense and they expect you to work 'fast and effective' specially in Housekeeping. Angelo, the host of B-active, is really aware that you are a volunteer and is willing to explain, help and delegate activities :) What was promised is fulfilled, work, free time and meals, they lend you bicycles and kayaks to enjoy the surroundings. The views and connection that you can make with nature in this volunteering is amazing!
