The Experience

Located in a privileged place, on a viewpoint overlooking an ancient glacial valley, Refugio de Belagua is the ideal place to enjoy nature in all four seasons. On the edge of a Natural Reserve, 3.5 km from a Nordic ski center and 12 km from a small alpine ski resort. My experience here was absolutely amazing. Every single person working at the lodge was wonderful and made me feel like family. I learned so much, both professionally and personally. What I valued most was the deep respect, empathy, and understanding that the core the lodge team showed toward everyone working there. It is so much more than just a place to work. A special mention goes to Ángel, who is the definition of a genuinely kind, respectful, and remarkable human being. Working alongside him reminds you that selfless, trustworthy, and good-hearted people truly exist.

It's almost been a year now. The heat passed through here, the leaves fell, it snowed… and a lot!
Also people passed by, each with their backpack and their stories.
I would like to find the words to describe everything that the accommodation and its people give to every traveler who passes through here, but I find it impossible. Great stories, incredible people, a lot of learning, a real accommodation, love, all that abounds here.
Thank you, Ángel, Aino, Marta and every person with whom I shared a mate on these mountains.
I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The lodge is wonderful in every aspect. Its people and its landscape. It is (because I will still stay here for a long time) a space of healing on all levels. And the day I leave I will take with me experiences, teachings, friends forever in my heart. Angel is a wonderful being, a pleasure to have near. Thank you for everything

My stay at the accommodation was everything I had hoped for and more. I learned a lot about the culture of the area, both Navarre and the Basque Country. I learned about mountaineering, skiing, serving at the bar, and how a restaurant kitchen works. Everyone was always very attentive to me and my needs; I had total freedom to cook whatever I wanted and they bought whatever I needed for the recipes I wanted to make, they also included me in spontaneous trips to ski that happened from time to time.
Thank you very much to all the guards and workers!!!!🏔️

100% recommended. I haven't met anyone who passes through this accommodation and doesn't fall in love with the place and its people. Doing volunteer work in the accommodation broadens your mind; you learn about everything: culture, local cuisine, meteorology, flora and fauna, geography, Basque (the language of the region), environmental awareness, mountain sports, carpentry, art, and a never-ending list of things that life cannot fully provide. Best of all, they teach you the meaning of camaraderie, inclusion, and to see ourselves as equals even with our differences. It is a place that allows you to be authentic and always feel cared for.
