The Experience

We are an organization of 8 local volunteers. We now have a shelter with 30 dogs... We are located about 4.5 km from the Port (downtown); the shelter is by the bikeway and the main road... The volunteer will have autonomy and will live in a room specially for them, where there is a kitchen, a bathroom, a shower, a fridge, a blender... They will live among volunteers and also live with the dogs... We provide legumes, fruits and eggs... Come on!

I really enjoyed my time at the shelter Rescante! The work with the dogs was very fulfilling and they all were really sweet. They live a good life at the shelter and with volunteering you improve it even more. Edwin and Jamie have been very kind hosts and with the other volunteers it created a family feeling. I already miss all the dogs and hope to come back one day! 💞

Linda Anne is a very wonderful person, polite and collaborative in all the shelter's tasks, respectful, cheerful, very funny and responsible in every way.... We want to thank you for coming to give love to my dogs and cats; they, through my voice, say thank you... Without a doubt, I recommend Anne for any volunteering... We love you very much

I did't stay at the main-shelter, but a smaller secondary location with less dogs and more gardening and cleaning, so my review is on that location.
I really enjoyed my time there! Nelly was lovely, and the work hours were respected. She was flexible when i wanted to combine my stay with visits to other islands, and answered all questions. The shelter is not at the location pinned on the map, but a bit further away, about an hour away from town, with walking and bus. There's a curfew at 10pm. The work was easy, I got a private room, and shared a kitchen and toilet w. another volunteer.

It was a beautiful experience, I ended up liking it so much, the dogs are sweet angels and the working hours are fair and good for your schedule so that you can go out and enjoy the island, the only thing that surprised me was that I didn't got a bike neither fruits as it was listed in the page, besides that everything was good

I loved my stay at the shelter. The work hours were respected & I had enough free time to visit the other islands. The staff are lovely & welcoming. The dogs are so sweet & work is always a joy because the main task is to spend lots of time with them - giving them love & attention. The islands are really beautiful .. with many things to do & so much wildlife to see. If you are a dog lover, I would highly recommend volunteering at the shelter. It is a very rewarding experience & the dogs really need you. It was sad saying goodbye & I hope to go back soon. Thank you for everything! ❤️🐕‍

This was such an amazing experience we didn't want to leave! Gloria, her family and all the other volunteers were so welcoming I felt like part of their family from day one! Providing love and care for the dogs was such a great experience- we would go back in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this to others.

Alicia, a wonderful person, helped us work a lot at the shelter, cleaning, building and above all giving a lot of love to the dogs, so much that we will never forget you, since we have our Alis 🐶 at the shelter
