The Experience

We are a family who work in organic and ecological agriculture- also known as permaculture. We live in Chazuta, a little city famous for its culture, habits, tradition, agriculture and forest conservation. We work with varied crops from which we cook typical gastronomy and make organic handmade chocolates as well as other cacao products. We are also promoting agro-tourism and eco-tourism and offer the typical lodging, all in harmony with nature.

I had a great time at the project Mágico! The family is very sweet and welcoming. They'll make sure you get to do everything you want to do during your volunteer. They made sure I was able to make some chocolate with them and go to the waterfall. The waterfall is amazingly beautiful by the way. Well worth the tricky path to get there. The work was very manageable helping out with various agricultural tasks or helping out with the chocolate production. I learned a lot about medicinal plants and the importance of eating well which shines through María Elena's cooking! Muchas gracias!!

We were here for one week as a couple. Our experience at the project was really amazing. We felt from the beginning like a part of the family. The food was more than amazing, the best what we ate so far in Perú. 100% recommendable 😊.

The family welcomed us very well. The food, in addition to being typical, was tasty and was always served in generous quantities! We had the opportunity to learn how to make artisanal chocolate and it was an experience of a lifetime. On the day off, we went to see Cascada Tununtunumba as a group.
