The Experience

A place with a wide variety of flora (medicinal and edible herbs) and native fauna (numerous species of birds, hares, foxes, lizards, capybaras, river otters, among others). The volunteer work is diverse since we have farm animals (chickens, geese, turkeys, sheep), domestic animals (dogs and cats), two horses, four organic gardens, and we are in the midst of a building expansion focused on bioconstruction.

The community was the best volunteer experience I've ever had. I felt welcomed immediately and quickly felt at home. Everyone was kind, funny, loving, and felt like family. I loved the strong sense of community, sharing meals, and working together. The work was enjoyable and balanced, and the hosts were patient teachers who shared so much knowledge about eco-building, culture, and life. I learned a lot and left with a new perspective on community and living. I would recommend this experience to anyone and can't wait to come back!

This was easily one of the most beautiful, impactful, and special places we have ever been to. We were only there a month, but it quickly felt like home. Lidia is an incrediblly kind, wise, genuine person- and a fantastic cook. Varinia is so funny, sweet and a joy to be around. She will always put a smile on your face. Igor is kind, encouraging, wise, and funny. We can not recommend this place enough. We were able to experience the culture, learn about eco building, and how to care for animals and the environment. Most of all we will miss living in community with everyone at Laguamanda.

I had a wonderful time here and learned so much—not just the language, but also a lot about life. Everyone was so nice, and I always felt welcome.

Laguamanda, our first volunteer experience, left us with a very positive experience.
They welcomed us very warmly.
Igor and Varinia picked us up at the terminal, and took us to Laguamanda.
We stayed in a small travel trailer; perhaps the mattress could be improved, since it didn't have one, and at times you could feel the wood of the 'bed'. Still, we managed with some cushions that were there.
The stay was very nice; we are very grateful to Lidia for her lunches and her kindness!
The work was simple.
Thank you very much for having us!!!🙌🏼✨️

Igor, Varinia and Lidia made our experience in the community feel like being with family. We shared meals, stories, and a way of seeing life from the community. The exchange hours are respected, and they also provide you with work clothes and guide you and accompany you with the tasks. We arrived in winter, but we had a stove, a bed heater, quilts, and hot water. The bathroom is a little far away, but that's the only thing. We leave with the intention of returning, to share and enjoy, not only of the place but of the community. Thank you for everything, we carry you in our hearts 💓💓!
