This was a truly special and unique experience. Was it hard work? Absolutely. But I learned so much about discipline, the shelter care, and working as part of a team. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals and is willing to be thrown into the deep end. If you embrace the challenges, you'll get so much out of it. The people are warm, welcoming, and create a very special environment. One practical recommendation: make sure your tetanus vaccination is up to date before arriving. This is real farm and the shelter work, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

My Lovely Pig the shelter was a great volunteer experience! The work is tough and takes getting used to, but it's so rewarding and working/living with all the volunteers creates this little family bubbler shared experiences that is so nice! I really appreciated the intentionality that so many people here have and hope our paths cross again! Thank you guys for hosting me!

If you're considering coming here- do it! This was my first volunteer experience and I am so glad it was. The work IS physically demanding (and you will get dirty), but the people you share it with and the animals you do it for make it easy. The core team and other volunteers I met here were the warmest, kindest group that felt like family after a month. If you want a meaningful volunteer experience, choose this one. ❤️

My 3 month stay at My Lovely Pig the shelter brought me home to myself in ways I have yet to experience. The team became family to me, many volunteers coming and going, and an incredible crew to stay long term. Kind, genuine, loving, empathetic, sensitive humans. SO queer and neurodivergent friendly. Honest communication about the accomodations and hard work (the work and hours are HARD but rewarding so be prepared). The connections you develop with the animals are life changing. This place is for a devoted and passionate the shelter lover, who's not afraid of hard work, mud, and humble living❤️ ILY !!
