The Experience

Cheerful and reliable dog lovers welcome! You will help me with daily tasks of keeping the house clean & tidy, general maintenance, dog care, basic gardening. Opportunities to help my husband on diy projects. We would like to tidy up/landscape the garden so experience here would be helpful. Routine tasks - weeding, hedge trimming & lawn mowing.Other tasks vary seasonally. You will need to be fit and active; we go for 2 dog walks every day.

I had a lovely stay in the home with Jo and Charlie, I really got to soak up the countryside nearby and explore the fields via cycling. Bonus of being able to hop into the gorgeous city of Cambridge after the mornings and on weekends. I really appreciated all the food, advice and conversations that Jo and Charlie were able to offer. I helped walking all the doggies that came to stay and cleaned around the home in any way I could as well as offering help in the garden. Thanks again for hosting me!

So sorry Julia - hadn't realised there is a time limit to write a review.
Julia cheerfully did everything asked of her and she was great with the dogs - calm, kind and confident. She is enthusiastic, reliable and responsible and we enjoyed our conversations and introduction to Moldovan food!
Julia is keen to make the most of her time away & pack in as many experiences as possible.
Good luck Julia with your future travels.

I had the best time getting to know Joanna and Charlie. They are amazing people who will make you feel welcome the minute you get into their home. It was an incredible experience that taught me a lot about what it's like working with dogs. I got to spend a lot of time in nature, explore around Cambridge, enjoy Joanna's incredible cooking and laugh at Charlie's jokes;) I highly recommend this experience!

You were a pleasure to host Roxane and we learnt a lot about Quebecois culture - maybe we will see you there one day! Good luck in your future adventures.

I had a wonderful time in the home. Johanna and Charlie are wonderful hosts, who not only respected you privacy, but also made sure to teach you about their culture, and asked questions about yours. The tasked you as a volunteer got asked to do are very reasonable, and if you make sure to communicate in advance what your plans are for the day, I experienced that they also are pretty flexible regarding when you finish your work (which was really kind because that way, I got to discover more of beautiful Cambridge and the surrounding areas). Thank you for opening your home to me!

Joanna & Charlie are nice and agreeable people, flexible with schedules and respectful with my food requests, which I very much appreciate. However, I went there under the impression that I would mainly help her with her 'dog board' and with household chores. Instead, I cleaned up their house pretty much on my own on a daily basis, regularly completing tasks which were not in the opportunity description (such as window polishing or furniture varnishing) and only cared for the dogs when I accompanied her on the daily walks… Regardless I learnt new skills, about their culture and gastronomy!

Volunteering here was really rewarding. Walking dogs helped me discover the stunning landscape, also visiting Cambridge was very easy. Charlie and Joanna were excellent hosts, making me feel at home. I also learned a lot about British culture from them. Thanks to their hospitality, the beautiful surroundings, and my time in Cambridge, this experience became truly unforgettable.

We loved hosting you both - you fitted in so well and felt like part of our family from the start. We very much enjoyed the food you cooked - and next time I am in Spain I will ask for Summer Wine! You are welcome back any time! Hope all goes well with your studies and future career and travels! XX
