The Experience

We are looking for volunteers to help us clean the hostel, do the laundry and help at the reception on the beautiful island of Miyajima. You can also do gardening or help on our social media if you'd like :) The island is located less than an hour outside of Hiroshima city and is most famous for its giant Torii gate. You can visit the UNESCO world heritage shrine, climb Mt. Misen and go swimming! You can always apply with a Working Holiday Visa.

This was our first time working as volunteers and I honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. Junya-san was extremely welcoming and made our stay fun and confortable. He was always ready to suport us and answer all of our questions. Work was easy and rewarding and I was able to connect and meet a lot of interesting people, practice Japanese and explore the island and nearby locations. We also did some cultural activities and met members of the community. I'll be coming back for sure. Thank you so much!

I really enjoyed my stay. The Island has a lot of nature and is very beautiful. Me and the other helper had a house (!) for ourselves. I could see the great Tori Gate from my window, so impressive. The work is eather cleaning oder reception. If you don't have experiences the onwer will tell you everything, the tasks are easy. Junya is a calm and friendly person I am happy that I could meet him. I wish you the best thanks for having me.

My stay on the hostel island was very relaxing and peaceful. The work was not too hard, but kept me busy and especially doing reception shifts turned out to be a very fun experience! This place is perfect if you're looking to connect with nature, climb a (small) mountain, and be surrounded by the beautiful sight of traditional Japanese architecture and landscape. I recommend going to the beach for a little break from the very touristy town! It's busy during the day and VERY quiet after dark so don't go looking for nightlife… Junya is a great host and always looking to improve your experience!

Staying at the hostel with Junya has been an incredible experience. The days are very relaxed, with tasks like cleaning and simple laundry duties completed in 3-4 hours. Some nights you can sit at reception and work on your own projects while you await guests to arrive. Junya and Ryu are both absolute legends, very friendly, respectful, and kind and they take very good care of you. During your days you can hike Mount Misen, or just relax and people watch in the beautiful town of the hostel. It really is peaceful and a nice place to destress and kinda of just da reset on your brain.
