The Experience
You'll feed a small colony of cats and give them some attention while enjoying life in a tiny house in the hills of Vis. You must be attuned to cats, enjoy hiking, and be able to deal with rudimentary living conditions. You'll be very ALONE up on the hill, so be sure you can handle that. You must be responsible and communicative with me. Mandatory gear: solid shoes for hiking on rocky paths, a sturdy backpack, and a headlamp.

The experience with Shiva and the land is a once in a lifetime experience. It is very unique, having to think on your feet and deal with unexpected circumstances. The cats are amazing and the nature is too. I am glad I was able to support her project and to get a new story to tell.

It was a unique, mind-opening experience. I felt at peace and inspired. Since I stepped foot on the island I felt welcomed and appreciated. The host, Shiva, is genuine, kind-hearted and trustworthy. My favourite part was spending time with the cats in Sky the shelter, where you can admire astounding views of the sunset. The night sky is also breathtaking as one may imagine, it's perfect for stargazing! I would recommend this experience to anyone who shows qualities of adaptability and independance. I made memories I will cherish forver. A big Thank You to Shiva and lots of a love to the cats!

Our time at the shelter was fantastic. It's a wonderful way to connect with nature and animals. The experience is exactly as she describes it in the posting, no surprises at all. It really made us live more simply and get the most out of everything. I'm so thankful for our time there and will miss it dearly!

My partner and I spent a month in the shelter we're so glad we did. Shiva is very welcoming and kind, she really made us feel comfortable even though she wasn't on the island for most of the month. November can get quite cold and windy, especially at night, but as long as you come prepared it's not a huge issue. We absolutely adored the cats and formed strong bonds with many of them. The work is easy, satisfying, and takes very little time as long as you stay on top of removing trash and things like that. I was very sad to say goodbye to the colony, but will remember them always.
