The Experience

The common house construction is a roundwood structure with a green roof, stone foundation and walls of wooden pallets stuffed with straw and plastered with clay. This is where we have the shared kitchen and hang out space. We aim to get it ready for the winter as a cosy warm space. We have more plastering to do, plus filling some last parts of the walls with straw. It is a great building method that we are happy to teach. We work 9-13h.

This volunteering was a great learning experience and the food was awesome! We enjoyed our stay Hari was super friendly and a great host although we lacked the social aspect as there was no other volunteers there. We found the clay plastering interesting although possibly one week would have been enough for us as it was repetitive. We went to a work day and this was really fun meeting new people, we also went away for the weekend (4days) and Hari was nice and flexible about this and adjusted our hours accordingly. We would recommend having experience in the outdoors prior to arrival.
