The Experience

People from all over pass through Oruro to our hostel, travellers from Uyuni, La Paz, Cochabamba, Potosí, Sajama, Santa Cruz, among others. We need help with cleaning the rooms, managing check-ins and check-outs, and assisting with tasks in the kitchen and in the common areas. In exchange we offer a shared and/or private room, laundry, bathroom, shower, and a fully equipped kitchen, as well as some basic supplies for breakfast.

Overall a positive experience. Carlos it's a good host, very kind and respectful. Shifts are short and easy tasks. You get enough time to explore the city and the surrounding! Breakfast is nice, especially the jam :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering at Backpackers hostel in Oruro. Florenthio was very welcoming and ensured I was comfortable in all aspects of my stay. The atmosphere was relaxed and made me feel like I was part of the family. We had most meals together and I got to connect and make great relationships with the guests and other volunteers. The work was very straight forward and I had plenty of free time to explore the city. I Would highly recommend volunteering here it's a great place to unwind and the support from the owner and staff was well above expectations. LOVE the cat (Walter
