The Experience

In our team you will play an important role - you will be the first person welcoming our guests. As receptionist you are responsible for Check Ins / Check Outs, as well as taking orders and answer question. You interacting with our guests and creating a feel good atmosphere for them is key to the position. Working together with our local staff will be a great cultural exchange, we would like you to teach them English when the shifts aren't busy.

This was my first volunteering experience through Worldpackers and they definitely did make it a memorable one. Everyone at the hostel was very friendly and helpful with everything I needed. And they were one of the most socialable hostels I've stayed at across all of Sri Lanka!

I was in more than 100 hostels in last 2 years and "the hostel" is top 5 for sure. Everything is great, from the pool, atmosphere, superb chef with local and international food, also location is convenient because bus station is just down the street in the main street that leads to city center and you need just 15 minutes by bus or tuk-tuk which is amazingly cheap. Staff and managment are incredible, helpfull and welcoming and i will strongly recommend visiting "the hostel" if you are backpacker or volunteer because you will meet a lot of amazing people from all around the world!

I'm beyond greatful and happy about my experience ! I've met amazing people who I would love to keep connection with. Seyan, Lisa, Coni they're all very helpful and genuine people. Open for new ideas and they really gave me a space where I could use my talent and skills. I helped them with reception and they also gave me an opportunity to paint huge mural ! I love that they're open for new ideas and willing to listen to you all the time. Thank you guys again for this experience, I'm gonna miss every each one of you and the Hostel :) whenever I'm back in Colombo I'm definitely visiting them <3

I enjoyed my time at the hostel. The shifts are good, easy and flexible. and you get time to go to other places and explore. The buss stop is also just a 1 minute walk away which is amazing. I stayed there for about a month and the hostel is like a little oasis away from the big city of Colombo so that is very nice and oh my god how good the food is, chef knows what he is doing. The team is very welcoming and they make sure that you feel it from the moment you arrive. I would very much recommend this experience!

The hostel was my first time working in a hostel! And it was a lovely first experience. The staff is really sweet and they make the schedule in a way that you can travel around in your free time! Get good food everyday as well. The work is easy and relaxed. Do know that it's really not a party hostel as most people come just to sleep before / after the airport. Which makes it a really chill place to relax, but just don't expect to be around many people as some days you won't see anyone at all.
