The Experience

My name is Ha. I am from Sapa, Vietnam, and I live in Lao Chai Village, a small Hmong community surrounded by rice terraces and mountains. I started the Hmong English School with one simple dream: to give local children and adults the chance to learn English and open new opportunities for their future. Many people in my village cannot afford extra classes, so I provide a place where they can learn for free with your help.

Our experience at the the school was incredible! Ha is an amazing host and such a lovely person. We had so much fun together and enjoyed every minute. Us being vegans was also no problem and they prepared delicious food every day. The nature around Sapa is mesmerising and the kids in the the school are lovely. We miss everyone already so much and this place will keep a special place in our hearts 💟

My time at Hmong the the school was truly an amazing experience. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet Ha and all of the wonderful students at the the school. During my time there, I formed genuine bonds with the students, and I will carry their memories with me in my heart forever. Ha is an incredible woman whose dedication and passion have created something truly special. I am deeply grateful for this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful and rewarding opportunity.

My experience at H'Mong the the school will definitely be added to one of my favorite memories in life! My friend and I decided to do it just after watching the video Ha made, which got us immediately hooked in the project! Helping out Ha teach English to kids, teens and adults allowed us to immerse ourselves in the local culture and really make meaningful connections. We lived as a community with the volunteers and a few students and had loads of fun and great food!! On top of that, you get to trek with Ha around the different villages and the rice fields and you get to do your own batik

We stayed in the Hmong the the school for 2 weeks and we absolutely loved it. We got a true local experience and we learnt a lot about the community and the Hmong people. The aim of the the school is to teach English to kids/young adults and create opportunities for them to work as local tour guides - you really feel you are contributing to the community. the the school curriculum is still developing, which gives you flexibility to plan and introduce your own content. Thank you, Ha, for this amazing experience! Your project is a big inspiration!

A superb experience with the Hmong people of Laochai and Tavan. Finally, a volunteer opportunity that truly benefits the children and villagers. We would have loved to stay longer. Teaching people who genuinely want to learn is truly wonderful. Thank you Ha, Linh Thomas, and everyone involved in this project.
