The Experience

From mid-January to June/July 2024 we will be taking the yacht to a shipyard on Langkawi Island for a major refit. We are looking for one or two physically strong helpers with good technical knowledge and manual skills who know how to handle different machine tools very well. Preferably you are experienced with refit work on a ship. Couples are welcome if both of you have good manual skills as described above.

Klaus & Tilly are great Hosts for me. the Time we spent together was fun and passed super quick. Tilly is a Goddess in the kitchen her food tastes delicious and her freshly baked bread is a welcomed gift after months without proper bread. She is smart tough and can help Klaus with the tasks on the ship. The work with Klaus on the Boat is a bit challenging due to the heat and the tasks Wich have to be done. He hast so much knowledge in building repairing construction and in life ;) Make sure you can listen to a story twice. I had a great time and even extended my stay on the boat.

Working on the boat was a great experience. Tilly and klaus were very welcoming. Your own room and bathroom are amazing, the boat is docked so you have to use the shipyard bathroom. The heat in the room was hot, I'm English and haven't climatized to the weather, I was provided with a fan. The food was out-standing Tilly's breakfast and lunch is what I looked forward to! Language barrier and explanations could be confusing resulting in failed expectations at times but had a good understanding in the end. He's one of the most hardest working men I've met! Good luck the boat

For me it was a really special experience living on a boat, gaining knowledge about sailing yards and how to maintain them. The yard's innerarchitecture is in perfect condition, so is the sleeping place and the living area. Food is great (big thanks to Tilly) and work with Klaus is demanding, but interesting as he has an incredible work experience. I definitely only recommend this experience to handcrafted people with experience in tools. That leads me to the only point of improvement, what's the little patience of Klaus in showing and explaining new tasks. However, I had a great time :-)
