The Experience

You will have a chance to speak to Amara to learn about the real life of domesticated elephants in Sri Lanka, and the unethical tourist activities in the area. In the morning you will be collecting food for the elephants and in the afternoon you can give them a scrub in the river, if you'd like. If you wish, you can become a long-term volunteer, helping us remotely with your skills (crowd funding, admin, photography, social media...).

  • Between 18 and 55 years old
  • Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers
  • Be from outside Sri Lanka

Amara and his family are really accommodating and friendly. The project is one that is really of value for making a change for Elephants in poor situations in Sri Lanka. You also get to explore the local area and immerse yourself in Sri Lankan culture. Truly a home away from home. Thank you Amara and family ❤️
