The Experience

Looking to participate in a radically green development project? We have constructed a self-sustainable 18-building green campus in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Using alternative methods and materials, we are empowering the youth of this community, the majority of whom are Kaqchikel Maya, to be the architects of their own futures. Our volunteers will be part of the construction team and will work together to complete our Campus.

Eco building for a school, which teaches in both Spanish and the local indigenous language, does not have to be only cob, recycled plastic bricks and compost toilets... there was plenty of twisting wire for the rebar; mixing, pouring, even patting on by hand, the concrete. The employed locals are great at showing how to, with or without language, and a pleasure to work alongside.
