The Experience

For this volunteering, you do not need to have prior knowledge, just interest and desire to be in nature. Our property has a great diversity of flowers, fruits, vegetables and aromatic plants. We recommend bringing clothing that adapts to this job depending on the weather, e.g.: sun hats, waterproof boots, garden gloves. As well as a bottle to hydrate, etc...

I really enjoyed my stay here! You decide how much you want to learn about their way of life and everybody is happy to answer your questions. If you want to learn more about the Hare Krishna movement you can, and if not you can also just talk to other volunteers and enjoy nature. Furthermore it is a good example of how living in a community can look like and the environment around the castle is beautiful. Maybe it is important to know that the tasks for the volunteers aren't only "flowerpicking" but can also be housekeeping or gardening.

My time in the eco village was a pleasant experience. It is possible to have contact with the Hare Krishna philosophy, everyone who lives or frequents the Castle is very open to chat. The meals are really very good and the accommodation is very comfortable. The work generally involves maintenance and cleaning of the Castle and the area, and schedules are respected. It is a place to connect with yourself and nature, as it is far from urban centers. You can participate in activities at the Castle, explore the woods and there are yoga classes on Mondays and Fridays.

My experience was amazing! I was able to assist in the repair/reconstruction of the Yoga Hall, and it was very pleasant days of work. The entire castle area is quite large and has all kinds of tasks to do, but always simple tasks, and working hours and rest periods are respected. The food is simply wonderful – I'm not a vegetarian but in the two weeks I stayed, I didn't miss any animal protein at all. The rooms are also great, and all areas have heating. During your stay, you can learn about Hare Krishna, if you're interested, be in touch with nature, and make incredible friendships.

The community at the eco village were all absolutely lovely and incredibly welcoming. Within only a day or two of arriving, all of the people who live in the community had gone out of their way to come up and introduce themselves to my partner and I, and were always ready to have a chat if you saw them around the place. The work was very varied, with many different tasks needing to be done around the place, so that keeps things interesting. There are lots of learning opportunities for volunteers at this stay, and the accommodation is great. We would highly recommend it to any travellers!

This has been my first volunteering and without a doubt it has been completely worth it! Thanks to Nayana, Civil and the rest of the hosts and people who stay there for welcoming the volunteers so well, I have learned a lot from this experience and it has been nice, I have met great volunteers who have become new friends. I hope to return again! Hare Krishna!🫶🏽
