This was my first worldpacker experience and first time in Dominican so I didn't know what to expect. But the hosts are really kind and hardworking. So as long as you turn up and do your job (easy work to do) they will look after you and you'll have a great time. They provide apartments for the volunteers, breakfast (at the hotel) and dinner (they buy you cook) but also do pizza and beer nights occasionally to get everyone together which we loved. I am really grateful to them both for having me, I didn't want to leave. I'd love to go back again. You won't regret going :) Bayahibe is amazing!!

Fabrizio and Alice both welcomed me and did everything to make me feel comfortable. They both have a beautiful property and also a vision to make it better. They both notice my skills and experience in the hospitality field and immediately decide to give me important responsibilities with managing the property, the staff and the volunteers. I learned a lot in maintenance, gardening and property management. They gave me the flexibility of hours so that I can also enjoy my time here. Fabrizio introduced to many of the locals, it felt like my second home. I can say I gained a friend being here.

Hey Hey! What a great first WorldPackers experience! I made lots of life long connections; with the host, other volunteers, and locals! The town of Bayahibe is so cute and small, the beach is only a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel! It is also such a safe place to walk around by yourself. Everything matched what was described. The hotel has such a cute tropical vibe! Thank you Fabrizio and staff!

Hi Kortnie,

thank you for your help during your stay. Also for us are the firsts experiences and I personally imagine to give different "touch" to our programs, offering possibilities not only to travel low cost but giving also an opportunity to to grow in a professional and personal sides.

As you know , bit sad for the events. It is not nice to interrupt the programme before the date. But it is also a business and I must take decision considering many aspects and I had to do that with the two Volunteers.

Still not believe how the others left in that way. Anyway you are always welcome to come back any time.

Anyway , would like to go forward , don't think I need to explain to you but as the false news, defamatory and tasteless communications about me, perhaps I'll take this opportunity to talk about the facts.

Given that I have always tried to be flexible about everything and with everyone, that we started this program not to exploit volunteers but to work on an interesting project, with a bit of seriousness and with potential opportunities not only pro tempore, not only professional growth but also for the future; given that even when I found myself faced with people who shamelessly lied about their experiences and abilities, I always tried to find a solution not by assigning tasks but by asking: "What would you like to do? Suggest how you can make yourself useful".

Even in the face of these strictly work and organizational reasons, of respect towards me, having clarified the spirit of our initiative from the beginning, and having only requested seriousness in respecting the commitments made, transparency and honesty, I have decided ( a week ago more or less) to interrupt before the dates we agreed with two of the volunteers having two different profiles.

A totally disinterested volunteer, no respect for commitments, false information on the profile. This volunteer continued (even after various warnings) to apologize but without changing his attitude.

The other volunteer, however, continued to say yes to everything, with a smile, but in fact did not do anything other than write 4 slides (after more than 2 weeks) but far from the continuous assertions or proposals discussed.

The second volunteer was invited to interrupt with a minimum of time to organize himself but with the invitation not to go to the workplace (also following previous warnings for attitudes and compositions that were not appropriate for this place and did not comply with the house rules.) Following this communication, this volunteer introduced me to the public working group and introduced himself, accessing from; entrance to the hotel, in a private mansion, my and my family's residence. NOTHING, he was asked to leave several times, underlining that what he was doing was a serious violation, as well as a useless evidentiary demonstration (this in front of many people).

The volunteer continued to resist me and I raised my tone. of the voice, and I move away to avoid a physical confrontation. Another member of the team tried in vain to reason with him but without success so we had to request the intervention of the police. Nonetheless, to avoid creating problems for an unwary young person, a complaint for violation of private property was not filed because there are penalties that can reach up to two years of imprisonment.

On the same day, in the afternoon, I started receiving messages from other frightened volunteers because I had always received news from the same volunteer. One of these communications was truly a defamatory and pleasant slander against me and the structure I represent. An anonymous report was made for having disseminated defamatory information. (Procedure required as a representative of a tourist facility)

After this , I invitate everyone to put a bit of honestly. Also with no task , all the flexibility we offer, I don't think was to much asking to take care about the place we stay. Almost every night I was taking out the trash from the breakfast , or giving a little bit of water to the plants , or collecting cigarettes from the floor , built wall, or cleaning, or painting , ( never asked any volunteers to do that and all the good people left know and saw me)

So after the communication related to the 2 volunteers, also 4 or 5 left without any message. But the incredible thing they were totally fake, as person, as talking about interest to this project, and as a persons . And the sad things is that after we hosted around 20 volunteers , this category of people are the big part .

Thank you Kortnie, Thank you Marolyn, Thank you Danny.

Keep believing we could build a better world. Maybe we can't change it, but I'm sure people like you will make it better.

No energy to check the text. Sorry for my bad english .

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here at the hotel! Having volunteered at several hotels before, I can confidently say that this experience stands out as one of the best. From the moment I arrived everyone was extremely helpful and welcoming. Fabrizio has a great vision for the hotel, and he is truly dedicated to the growth and success of it. The opportunity to work alongside such a diverse group of volunteers was truly amazing as well, and they quickly became like family. If you have the chance to volunteer here, I highly recommend it. I hope to return again soon!

The best worldpacking experience I could've wished as a first timer. Alicia and Fabrizio are devoted to growing with and for the Bayahíbe Village Hotel. They are notoriously good people who take their job seriously and keep a mind-blowing level of patience when any issues arise. I highly recommend this place and plan to come back soon.
