I truely adored this place!! It is a misery to me why this place isn’t run over by tourist, because it has everything you could wish for; beautiful river, loooots od sakura trees, stunning temples and friendly people. Still this place is so peaceful, quiet and grounding. I had amazing two weeks here, Fuga-San also took us to a lot of temples and showed us the area. Biiiiiiiig thanks!!

Fuga is a very kind host and I cant complain about anything😆 I felt comfortable at all times and thoroughly enjoyed volunteering. Even when something unexpected happened (I hurt my feet haha), he helped me every step of the way. I recommend this volunteer without dubting, I meet other travelers and I enjoyed the nature far away from the busy city.

I enjoyed staying and helping out at Kuromame! Although I had to leave earlier due to outside circumstances, I felt at peace in Tamba. There was plenty of free time to rest and explore the beautiful countryside on bike. Doing the work tasks with other volunteers was fun and quick, working towards the common goal and splitting the tasks fairly. Fuga also took us to a summer festival in town, as well as different temples and a dinosaur museum! The place has a very laid back atmosphere, which can be a bit difficult if you're used to a more organized and orderly environment and clear guidelines.

This will always have a special place in my heart. For me, it was a place for slowing down and healing simply just by spending time in the countryside with the people there. Fuga went out of his way to plan fun things for us to do and drive us all there. I learned things about Japanese culture I probably wouldn't have if I didn't have this experience. Be open and flexible to changes and what unexpected adventures you may go on :)

I had a truly wonderful time staying at Kuro Mame! Fuga is an incredibly kind, thoughtful and welcoming host who genuinely cares about creating a meaningful experience for everyone. The work was easy and always felt like a team effort. We worked side by side, shared music and laughs. After work Fuga often took us on beautiful excursions and explained much about Japanese culture. He was also very flexible with the days off. If you're looking for a place to slow down, enjoy nature and experience a more authentic side of Japan, this is the perfect place! I can only recommend it wholeheartedly!!

This was my first Worldpackers experience, and damn, it set the bar really high. Fuga was an amazing host, now I understand all the 5star reviews. The working hours were great, and the energy in the house with Fuga and his cleaning playlists made everything super easy. He’s super flexible and friendly, and I felt so comfortable that I even extended my stay a bit longer. He made sure we had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful temples and nature around during momiji season, this prefecture is a hidden gem. It was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely come back on my next trip to Japan🫶

I had a really fun time at kuromame! Fuga is a great host and was always taking us to see amazing temples and sights in the area. It's in a really great location and there's many bikes available to use at any time. It's a super cute house located right next to the river and there's a grocery store only a 15min bike ride away. The job itself was easy and I honestly enjoyed it most days. I really fell in love with this region of Japan and I definitely plan to come back some day. Thankyou for having me:)

I had a wonderful time - Fuga is a wonderful host, and he is kind/hospitable, caring, and inquisitive. He clearly cherishes meeting other travelers, bringing them into the world of rural Hyogo (and Western Japan), and ensuring they have a comfortable and meaningful time as a volunteer. Each working day was a team effort - Fuga and the volunteers worked side-by-side and shared music and often a laugh or two. Fuga is also very generous with his time outside of working hours, as nearly every day he became a local tour guide, bringing us on excursions to beautiful places and sharing his knowledge.
