The Experience

First we go to the countryside to harvest the heritage apples and bring them to Santiago for pressing. We stay a couple of nights in an amazing environment. For this you would be expected to drive a rented car. Cider is fermented in one of the Santiago's patrimonial districts, only 30 min walk from the downtown. You will help with the cider and learn how to make it. It can be messy but fun! Great if you could help with the website, excel, admin.

I had a nice week with Tanja. I learned all the ins and outs of how to make cider. She is not only a wonderful cook but uses very high quality, local ingredients. The house is beautiful and the area is safe. Sometimes directions were a bit unclear or disorganized; this may have been because Tanja's first language is not English, or because I was her first volunteer. Overall, the work needs to be done with great care and attention to detail because you are working with food, but it is quite satisfying to see apples become cider.
