I had a wonderful experience with Gaëlle, Benjamin and the whole team. From the very first day, they made me feel welcome and part of the family. Everyone was kind, patient and flexible, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I enjoyed sharing activities with the children, cooking with the wonderful chef, talking with the pilgrims and friends of the fam and being part of everyday life at the gîte. If you love connecting with nature, hiking, the Camino de Santiago values and music, you'll definitely love Monistrol-d'Allier. Merci d'avoir été ma première famille française ❤

My experience was even better than I expected! Everyone made sure I was welcomed and comfortable with everything. My room in the apartment was super cozy and the work was hard but I felt grateful for it every single day as well as the people I got to meet and interact! For that I’m forever grateful! One day I wish to come back and reunite with such wonderful people.

Being with Gaelle, Benjamin and their wonderful family made me feel part of the future I imagine for our planet: sharing, caring and feeling what the people around us and the nature can offer. The presence of a incredible équipe made everything being easier and more entertaining. If you wanna join "the hostel" be ready to face a context not suitable for everyone, cause it will bring in your life a new relationship with people, animals and plants; so, a new relationship with yourself as a result. If you feel capable of accepting this kind of chaging, you'll find a new way of living.

Gaëlle and Ben are great hosts and really encourage you to interact and learn with the locals and the pilgrims, take local hikes and explore surrounding towns. They have a different set up to many 'homestay' arrangements. You have full independence and live in a separate apartment from the hostel and hosts home. Instead, you live with the other volunteers, cooking together, playing boardgames, arts, crafts and music making in your down time, or, stay in your room, your space is wholly respected :)

I had an amazing time volunteering at the hostel! Ben and Gaëlle are both wonderful people to work for and with and they really create a family environment between everyone at the hostel. I feel I learnt a lot working here especially working with the wonderful chef Julie! I am also not at all a singer and after a month of refusing they even got me to sing in the hostel on my last night🤠 generally a wonderful experience the work was enjoyable, I got to practice lots of French and there were lots of friends to be made in the village:)
