Our time at Toto's farm was filled with new experiences and long-lasting memories. The work on the land was challenging, but a great opportunity to learn about carpentry, building, sustainable materials, and teamwork. Toto is a great teacher and always wants to share his skills and knowledge. Toto and his parents are welcoming and hospitable, and Mama Gloria's cooking is superb! Toto is very intentional about making his guests feel comfortable, and introduced us with open arms into his community outside of the farm. He's very open to feedback and wants everyone to have a good time!

Very difficult to describe how wonderful my 2 weeks here with Toto were, his amazing friends, adorable parents, the local community & school kids, and his new puppies! I realize "life-changing" seems overly dramatic, but for ME, it was! The work was very physically demanding for sure, but just what I needed. Learned SO much about permaculture, cultivating/harvesting bamboo, farming sustainability & how connecting w/the locals & the village children are critical to improving our future! Toto is one of a kind, so intelligent, caring, and committed to his vision of a better planet!!

I spent 3 weeks volunteering at Algersans in Escalantera, San Joaquin, Iloilo, and it was genuinely rewarding. The technical work was exactly as agreed, sometimes tough but meaningful, and always fairly managed at 22 hrs/week with real flexibility. We cleared and treated bamboo, turning waste into charcoal for the garden. I had a private room, ate amazing home-cooked meals cooked by mama gloria, and lived mostly off-grid (rooftop WiFi, little signal). With 3 full days off, I explored beaches, towns + fiestas. A peaceful, hands-on experience with real local connection.

I loved my two weeks on the farm! I felt so welcomed by Toto, Gloria, Rick, Ate Emi & the whole village. We enjoyed great food thanks to Gloria, made so many great memories and really got to experience daily life and local culture on the island.
Even though the work is quite hard and you’ll get stuck in bamboo soo many times, it is also truly rewarding to see the progress. But be aware if you come with no experience like me, two weeks can feel a little short because you basically need one week to figure out how best to use the tools etc.
Thank you Toto for making my time with you so special!

This amazing two weeks was a true hardcore experience. I feel grateful that I met the world of bamboo clump management. I learned many new things, I met my limits, ups and downs and at the end I felt like.. this was exactly what I needed.
I highly recommend this beautiful place for those who would like to try real hard work.
Thank you so much, it was a pleasure to dive in to your world!
