This was my first time in Brazil, so volunteering at RioFlow felt like a perfect introduction to the country & Rio while being a small part of an NGO's ongoing work. Living in Vidigal was an interesting, eye-opening experience that shouldn't be romanticised, but I really enjoyed immersing myself within the local community. I loved teaching English classes for adults and going to Rocinha to play sports with kids of various ages. Grateful for the experience & opportunity to connect with the people I met. I recommend this to everyone with an open mind who's willing to learn & actively contribute.

Communication with Larry was excellent—he explained everything in advance when I arrived, and even after the first few days, he checked in to make sure everything was going well. He genuinely cares about the visitors. Most of the teachers and volunteers are in their early to mid-twenties, so you definitely won’t feel alone.

I loved the location because it has a stunning view of the sea—you can even hear the waves at night, which
