The Experience

We need someone to supervise the cleaning and care of the house in exchange for a place near the beach to enjoy. Also to interact with guests. In the morning, you will assist the resort guests (6 apartments) by preparing the apartments for tourists, delivering towels, and keeping the garden furniture clean, as well as the pool area. Afternoon is free to enjoy the beach, which is a two-minute walk away, and to explore the surrounding area.

I really loved this first experience with Worldpackers. On the first 2/3 days, the communication with the host wasn't 100% easy because she was out of town, but as soon as she came back, we met and she explained the expected work. Ana often gives a list of tasks, so it's easy to understand what to do. The workload is manageable, it's just enough to keep you busy in the morning, and you are off during the afternoon, so you can explore Praia da Luz. As for Praia da Luz, it is a cute small town, the beach is amazing. Thank you very much Ana (and Tata too) !!

Our experience was extremely disappointing. Communication with the host was almost nonexistent and we never met her in person upon arrival. The accommodation did not match the photos: it was a windowless basement with mold, dampness and unacceptable hygiene conditions. Despite raising our concerns, no solution was offered, and the host stopped responding forcing us to leave. We had to find and pay for alternative accommodation ourselves. This experience was far from the transparency, respect and collaboration that Worldpackers promotes.

After receiving several messages in which the arrival date and arrival time were changed. Sebastian (volunteer) kindly made himself available to welcome, and led the female volunteers to the room. Sebastian chose to stay 4 months under similar conditions. He has been a great support in maintenance tasks, as well as in preparing the space for the high season, after a very rainy winter.
The decision to leave was yours, after one to two hours of their arrival. We regret the frustrating experience.

The work is very easy and manageable. You are helping to clean the guest house and maintain the property. Luz is a cute town with a nice beach and Ana let us use her swimming pool which was lovely. Ana is very busy so contact before we arrived was slow but once we were there it was perfect. She always explains what needs to be done. The volunteer room has everything you need. Definitely recommend ☺️.
