This experience was quite disappointing to me. The managers Miller and Jose were extremely rude to staff and volunteers and constantly made us feel unwelcome. Even worse, the pictures are misleading, you stay at a different location which is the manager's house and upon arrival the place was extremely dirty, full of spiderwebs, animal poo in the cabinets and moho. What they expect of the volunteers is a more an intership than the Worldpackers experience. The hotel is beautiful but you feel extremely conditioned there. Overall I would not recommend this place.

Hi Camila. There were no pics of the staff house when you applied because we were still building our page, but there was a description. And we do now have photos of the staff house, which is cleaned professionally once a week at no cost to volunteers. While we are not an intership, we are a work-exchange, so we do expect volunteers to do some work (3 shifts per week). Regarding how you felt treated, we are restructuring our internal management to ensure the issues you mention don’t recur.

I had a very good time during the last volunteering I did at Pxm, I went with every intention of making friends and having a good time, but the owner and staff at all times make you feel that your support isn't enough, they treat you as if you were a nuisance, they speak to you badly, and they make you feel rejected. I do not recommend this place for volunteering; they are looking for staff, not to get to know people.

Hi Karen. Meeting people is part of the experience, but there are also work expectations: volunteers work three shifts per week in exchange for the use of facilities, access to our classes, and housing. If you are ONLY interested in meeting people and having fun, we were not the experience for you. Yes, we offer an apology for the way you felt. We are conducting internal training to ensure that the problems you mention do not happen in the future.

We sincerely regret hearing that you had a bad experience during your brief time in the hotel's volunteer program. We are implementing a new internal training program to ensure that these problems you mention do not occur again in the future. Thank you for the feedback.
