The Experience

We are located at the foot of Fitz Roy mount, within the Los Glaciares National Park. The estancia is over 100 years old and still managed by the pioneer family. We are now the 4th generation running the farm. We need help with many activities here, so if you like a dynamic environment, here's the place for you!

The lodge is an incredible place to volunteer if you are looking to get outside lots and are not afraid to work hard. Alfredo is very kind and was helpful with learning about El Chalten, as well as providing information about things to do. the lodge is a few kilometres out of town, which I found very peaceful. Walking into town to go to breweries/cafes just added to the experience! It's easy to get to all the hiking trails and there is plenty of time to check them out while volunteering. I had an amazing time here and will be coming back to visit this special place one day.

La the lodge offered great hiking and volunteering experience with beautiful people. But, the owner's behavior towards female workers was inappropriate, bordering on harassment, with unwelcome comments and favoritism. This behavior created discomfort and a sense of being undervalued. His strictness, such as reprimanding for minor lateness, fostered a tense work environment. Accommodation were fine but lacked amenities (microwave, fridge, and toilet paper), and lights were cut off from 12am to 5am. Make sure to communicate about the job, tasks and schedule beforehand.

The lodge is a beautiful and amazing experience overall. Alfredo was very kind, showed us the area, and facilitated our trips into town as it is 45 minute walk. Tons of hiking and nature close! I worked outside shoveling manure, compost/trash, collecting berries/lavender/pine cones. I enjoy my tasks. Make sure that you communicate with Alfredo beforehand to know your responsibilities. For transparency, I felt uncomfortable at times as a girl because of the over-friendliness and unequal treatment of volunteers/workers. Just be aware of your boundaries. It's a really beautiful place to live.

I had a great experience at the lodge! Everyone was very welcoming and I was able to learn a lot about El Chalten and Argentine culture. Tasks weren't difficult and I had plenty of time in the afternoons to explore. Definitely recommend!
