The Experience

At Herb Camp, you will become a key member of the project, exchanging ideas for its benefit. You will help develop the site, grow and tend to medicinal plants, build huts, and raise awareness about the project. You will experience a truly authentic local immersion, sleeping in our home, eating at warungs, and participating in village life. Berastagi, Lake Toba, and Bukit Lawang are right nearby for your free time and are well-connected.

The herbcamp is a beautiful land with variety of tasks such as weeding, planting, medicinal plants, creating decorative crafts, so you can choose. The project is currently under construction and the host Sempurna is motivated for this and is very friendly. I was unable to finish bcs I got sick but it was an enriching cultural experience.
It's possible hiking there, campfires, you can wear long sleeves for the mosquitoes. It's the right place if you love nature and a simple lifestyle due to the conditions of the accomodation. I also shared with locals and it was great! Thank u very much!

I had a great experience. The community was very kind, welcoming, and warm throughout my stay. the farm is a spacious and beautiful place, ideal for people who enjoy nature and peaceful environments. The projects are very interesting and have the potential to create a positive impact on the local community with the help of volunteers. The peaceful river, beautiful landscapes, and different activities make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend the farm to anyone who loves nature and wants to contribute to a meaningful project.

After spending a week here, this has been one of the most meaningful cultural experiences of my year of traveling. If you seek comfort, this may not be for you. But if you're open-minded and looking for a real cultural exchange, this is a place worth experiencing. The host is kind and genuine. He may not always fully understand what volunteers expect, but he is passionate and truly wants to improve his village and share it with the world. The conditions may be simple, but the experience is priceless. I've so much want to say about the experience, unfortunately there's word limit here

It was very lovely spending time with sempurna and his father, he's a kind and attentive host, the space where the project is developed is beautiful and the people in the village are very kind and lovely. He gave us lots of flexibility and space to explore and do our own thing and activities, yet the project requires lots of work and care and the sleeping space and the village are not for everyone. If you have an adventure spirit and enjoy local experiences at the cost of comfort and maybe some hygiene, it is a beautiful and amazing experience to have. Thank you sempurna for having us🥰
