The Experience

We are a young and creative couple building an off-grid home in the forest. We are looking for independent and capable people who are able to help out and looking for a cozy and private place to stay. Think cleaning, gardening in the sun, some jobs like painting, digging, chopping and stacking wood and spending time under the trees. Let us know what your interests are and skills and we can take it from there :)

Meg and Neil were so lush! We helped out on their land, planting seeds, chopping wood and making shingles. Meg and Neil are incredibly kind and generous folk and the bus that they provide as accommodation is so comfy and cosy - you can tell that a lot of time and love has been put into it. We had plenty of time to explore around work and the guys were really flexible in terms of work schedules. I'd absolutely recommend these guys to anyone who wants to learn about off grid living or just go and disappear into the woods for a bit. Big shout out to garden maestro Jess as well!

We had so much fun with Neil and Meg, learnt a lot about off grid living, which was so interesting to learn about! We had wonderful time in the bus which felt like home by the time we left. We helped in the garden and cooked some LUSH food over had the best time, couldn't recommend them more!

My stay with Meg and Neil was super chill, they are such nice people. I really liked the freedom I had to plan my own days, it was very therapeutic to work in the garden. If you don't mind being alone while having tasks to do, this is perfect!

Working in the community, Chopping wood, distribute wood chips, stacking wood and so on. Mistakes are forgivable, the work is feasible even for a learned merchant/office worker like me😁👍 The shower is outside and there is no normal toilet instead you have a outhouse. A relaxed atmosphere the food was good and on top the best coffee I had so far in New Zealand.

We had a truly wonderful week with Meg & Neil! From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and right at home. They are such a kind and lovely couple, and it was a pleasure to get to know them. The week was very relaxed a nice balance of light work and plenty of free time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The accommodation was great, and everything was super comfortable. We're really grateful for this experience and would definitely come back again. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying with Meg & Neil to anyone looking for a meaningful and heartwarming Worldpackers experience!
