The Experience

Come play games, sing karaoke, host movie nights, cook some family dinner and pour some beers with us! We are looking for a volunteer to join our team, whose only concern will be guest entertainement. We have a large hostel with a lots of potential given our beautiful outside space and our bar/cafe area out front with a view. Your job will be to create, plan and animate activities for the guests at the hostel, Wednesday through Saturday night.

My time at the hostel and in bacalar were really beautiful, thanks for makibg me feel like home, the location is great, my wishes were respected and I could openly comminucate everything with the team and compromises were found, I really felt comfortable to adress any discomfort and they really wanted me to be happy and Bacalar is so beautiful and stunning and the tasks were doable during the shifts:) thanks everybody, Kim and all the team, for everything!🫶🏽

There is a bond between the volunteers because this hostel is nice and small so it has a family vibe to it! The work hours are balanced, sociable and fair and the actual work itself is fine! It gives you a good amount of time to explore bacalar as the location of the hostel is great. There are family dinners and opportunities for group days/nights out. I would definitely recommend the hostel to anyone looking to volunteer in bacalar!

First I have to say I received a warm reception from the volunteer coordinator and team when I arrived. With that said, I had to cut the experience short due to my disappointment with the volunteer sleeping quarters. The room's rear entrance lacked a door and window - essentially the place was unfinished. Devoid of any furniture, the only option for rest was a soiled mattress without a bed frame, far below the standard I had anticipated for my month long stay. With that, I made the decision to depart due to the unsuitable sleeping conditions/arrangements. I hope they can improve.

thank you for your input. 15 new mattresses has since been purchased, including more bed frames. there are 3 windows in that dorm. i understand with you having a bad back how unconfortable the lower beds were. i wish you the best.

Mi experiencia en el hostel estuvo genial. El equipo es lo más, Erick siempre dispuesto a ayudar en todo, Delliate lo mismo:) Siempre se intenta que todos los voluntarios se sientan a gusto con los horarios y la comunicación no falta. La ubicación del hostel es perfecta y las instalaciones están bien. Recomiendo mucho esta experiencia.

Mi experiencia fue muy buena, Erick y Ofelia son bastante amables y con disposición a la mejora. El hostal es muy agradable y confortable, las tareas son sencillas y los horarios se respetan, sin duda volvería.
