The Experience

We grow & process most of our own vegetable and fruit - all to organic standards. We raise a small flock of layer hens and grow willow for weaving. We are always keen for visitors to join in with the daily tasks & exchange tips & tricks. Most of the soil prep and general maintance & impr of the property & buildings is in early spring and winter. Our boarder collie and Welsh pony like lots of attention. We are flexibel with daily schedules.

Dorrit & Dave were the most welcoming hosts you can find. The food was delicious (and I mean exquisit at times), and the jobs were fun, especially the cropping, planting, and dirt digging in the beautiful garden. You can do Lovely walks around and into the village, and Maisie is an adorable dog that wants to speak to everybody. Thank you Dorrit, thank you Dave, we shall not forget you Julie & Guillaume

Definitely the experience that you looking for when we think about volunteering! There we could learn new skills, practice English, exchange cultures, be in contact with nature, and a complete immersive with local people! But from faraway the best part of this experience was Dorit and Dave! They're unforgettable people Always asking if everything is ok, looking after us and making feel like home all the time. They also invited us for activities, beautiful walks, pub and even a Ceilidh event which was immersive Scottish experience The time we spend together always will be in our hearts!

Words are not enough to describe our experience with Dorrit and Dave. They are truly special people who will stay forever in our hearts and the kind of people we genuinely aspire to be like one day. From the very beginning, we felt welcomed, respected, and at home. It wasn't only a volunteering experience, it was a very special chapter of our lives that we'll never forget. We are so grateful for every moment we shared. Thank you so much!

Dorrit & Dave are incredibly kind and hospitable. The work was enjoyable and mainly included gardening/weeding, shaping a willow arch, and when the weather was poor we sanded and prepped their windows for painting. In our spare time Dorrit organised walks with us and took us to a gorgeous castle. The surrounding landscapes are magnificent! Kippen is a great base to explore either Glasgow/ Edinburgh or the surrounding nature. We had at least one meal a day together and they cooked delicious, nutritious meals. Truly grateful for this experience! Cannot recommend it enough.

This volunteering experience was incredible. Dorrit and Dave were always very helpful, taught us many things and were always very patient. Our meals together were an opportunity to learn more about Scottish culture and customs. I can't help but mention Maise (the lady dog) and Ocky (the big pony), who were very friendly. We went on long walks through the valleys and farms. I also appreciate their concern in always asking if everything was okay. The place where we slept was very comfortable and clean, exceeding our expectations. They will always be in our hearts.
