We really enjoyed the restaurant side of this experience. The work was fun, gianpierre was a delight to work for, the place was organised, and we learned a lot making pisco sours and local dishes. The restaurant is in a lovely area and meals were provided. However, the accommodation was run down, and ongoing personal/family issues regularly spilled into the volunteer experience. Boundaries often felt unclear, and we were placed in uncomfortable situations that felt inappropriate for volunteers. Great potential, but significant improvements in professionalism and boundaries are needed.

Mixed experience overall.
The restaurant work was enjoyable, and working with Gianpierre was genuinely a lot of fun. He made the shifts enjoyable, and we loved meeting guests. Unfortunately, ongoing family issues regularly affected the volunteer experience and created an uncomfortable atmosphere unrelated to our responsibilities. Some of the benefits advertised on Worldpackers were also not consistently provided. It's a shame, as the work itself was great, but the management and hostel environment significantly impacted our overall experience.

Thank you for this wonderful experience, Gian Pierre; the atmosphere of the bistro is very cozy and baroque, there’s always a movie playing (well, mostly Amélie Poulain), I learned to cook new dishes like curry (veggie or not) but also local cocktails like Pisco Sour and Chilcano! I recommend it to those who love cooking, it’s really an exchange between Gian Pierre’s menu and your own specialties!
