The Experience

This complex of three houses has been rebuilt from ruins with the help of friends and smaller companies since 2010 and has developed into a communal space for the arts and culture. We would like the volunteers to help us to organise the garden and rooms, help with maintenance of the indoor and as well help with gardening, as the season just starts. As well, there is a summer kitchen that needs our attention to make it nice for summer events.

My time at the Deltahaus was short, but it was very nice. The natural beauty around the area was very serene and the work was adaptable. Personally, the place was too rural for me and the lack of a specific work schedule was not something I enjoyed. Each day was different and I was not sure at what time we started, ended, or what I would be doing. That said, I never worked too long or did something I was not capable of or wanted to do. Alex is a very kind and accommodating host and for someone who wants to help build up a great artist retreat in a rural part of Germany, this is perfect for you

We spent lovely five days with Alex and his family. Mostly we organised and carried old furniture and other things, and also cleaned their summer kitchen for the season. The work was pretty chill and we also had a lot of free time. We started our work around 10.15, which suited us very well.

The building that we slept in was nice. We had our own room, which was at first pretty cold, but we had our own fireplace to warm it up, which was very cozy.

Alex and his family were all super friendly and welcoming, they even invited us to celebrate pesah with them, which was very nice experience.

Alex is a great host, kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. The place is beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for disconnecting from everything. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up staying longer than planned. Riding a bike through the countryside was one of the highlights — stunning views and a deep sense of freedom. It's also a very spiritual experience, a chance to slow down and really connect with yourself. I 100% recommend this volunteering experience. The nature, the silence, and Alex's hospitality make it truly special.
