This was a really great experience. Getting hands-on practice inthe host was way more valuable then any book or youtube video and Robert was always willing to take the time and explain how things were done and why. The ranch was beautiful with an amazing view of the nearby Vulcan de Fuego, the mountains of Michoacan, and beautiful pine trees all around. Robert was always very enthusiastic to connect me with locals to have experiences outside of the ranch as well. Overall, had a very nice time and am excited to use what I learned to one day build my own house out ofthe host materials!

The six weeks I spent with Robert were fantastic. I learned lots about bio construction, permaculture, sustainability, and life. Bring a good attitude and genuine desire to learn and contribute to the ranch, and you will have a great experience here. Robert was welcoming, flexible, patient, and respectful. He introduced me to locals and helped me to be immersed in the local culture. I always felt very safe nearby, the locals are so friendly, and the local bus line that runs to Colima every 20-30 minutes is great for days off. If you're looking for a party experience, don't apply here.

My experience here has been nothing but positive. Certainly the beauty of the land, and glorious sunrises and sunsets, contributed to making my stay at RDH most pleasant, but it was the opportunity to learn about traditional methods of house the project, sustainable farming, tending of the land, alternative energy, and the feeling that I have contributed to something significant that will endure long after I have left that has made the greatest impact on me. All this thanks to the host, Robert, and his easy-going manner, knowledge, generousity, and attention to my and the other volunteer's needs.

We spent 3 weeks with my boyfriend at the host, and it was a wonderful experience! Among all the volunteering experiences during my trip, that is where I learned the most. I could never thank Robert enough, who is a person who constantly shares his immense wealth of knowledge: bio-construction, permaculture, Mexico, cooking, life... we learned every day. If you are curious and motivated, and if you are looking for something where you will really learn and work, that’s where you should go. THANK YOU Roberto ☺️

Robert is a very patient person. He took a lot of time to explain tasks, processes, and backgrounds in a way that was easy to understand, and was always available to answer questions. His cooking is particularly noteworthy. The meals were consistently very tasty and prepared with great care. Through his calm manner, he created a pleasant and appreciative atmosphere. Overall, the experience was very positive and the stay was highly enriching. I had to leave earlier for personal reasons, but I will come back!
