“The less you expect, the happier you are.” the community is in the middle of a fishing village. I stayed there for 11 days during the rainy season and the little road to the homestay had a section with water in the middle, so don't be surprised if your feet get wet! The homestay is right above the river, so bugs, ants and small lizards are part of the ecosystem. You will have basic conditions: no shower, just buckets of rainwater, which was actually very refreshing and fan is also available at the bedrooms, If you love the community, authentic people and time to chill, go for it!

It was a great experience, Channey was lovely and attentive, the accommodation is as described, basic but practical. Very nice place to relax.

I had a really great time at Friends the community! It's located in a super quiet, tiny fishing village and feels very local and traditional. Expect bucket showers with cold water, limited electricity, no WiFi and almost no signal – definitely a back-to-basics vibe with a very simple kitchen and lots of insects.

The surroundings are beautiful and untouched, with mangroves, a river and hammocks to just chill. There are only a few shops and restaurants nearby, so it's perfect if you're looking to fully disconnect and enjoy a simple, authentic and budget-friendly experience.

My stay with Friends the community (Johnny) was awesome. Johnny gave me the freedom to build a composting system, which I thoroughly loved doing. This took me some time as I utilised resources lying around and had no power tools. Johnny was a great host and knew his community well. The community was the best, friendly and caring.

We had a great time at Friends the community. The village is beautiful and the people are all so friendly. We immediately felt like a part of the community. The work is basically what you make of it so we spent most of our time making a compost system and hanging out with the neighbours and trying to communicate! Koh Rong itself is stunning and Johnny is always there to answer questions.
