This host charges an additional fee to the cost of the Worldpackers annual plan for the sustainability of the project and the quality of the experience for volunteers. Learn more.
Per day
This fee helps cover three home-cooked meals a day, basic groceries, electricity, water, and the maintenance of the room. A part of it also supports the materials we use for activities and keeping our place comfortable for everyone.

This was by far the most authentic travel experience I have ever had. Staying with a local in the middle of nowhere gave me a truly unique insight into local life and a beautiful connection with nature. The local people were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the children were so open and curious that teaching was a real joy. Maharlika is a very kind caring, and open-minded person. He was always attentive to my needs, adapted the activities to my energy level, and was incredibly helpful though out my stay. It was a truly meaningful and wonderful adventure.

The project is an incredible host : welcoming, joyful, and an amazing cook. I felt quickly comfortable. Every day was unique, with farm work based on permaculture, teaching English, cooking traditional dishes, and meeting wonderful locals. The work at the farm depend on the season (planting, harvesting, maintain,...). The host always adapted activities to my energy and interests. I learned so much from him and the community while enjoying a simple and peaceful lifestyle. This was the perfect first solo trip, and I highly recommend this volunteering project. Thank you for everything, the project!

I had a wonderful experience volunteering at the project, Banjarnegara, Indonesia. The host was kind, welcoming, and supportive throughout my stay. I enjoyed teaching English to the children, learning about permaculture practices, and experiencing the local culture. The environment was peaceful, and everyone made me feel like part of the community. It was a meaningful and memorable experience that helped me learn, grow, and connect with amazing people. This experience was truly special because it gave me the opportunity to experience a genuine cultural immersion. Living with a local allowed me to discover the culture in a natural and authentic way through daily life, conversations, habits and small shared moments everyday. I felt welcomed from the very beginning and I really appreciated the host's kindness, openness and generosity. During my stay, I also had medical issues, and in a difficult moment, he was incredibly caring and supportive. It was an enriching experience, culturally and personally. I highly recommend this experience!!!

I had a great time staying with the project! The daily schedule was to "go with the flow" wich ment that no day was the same and I got to visit a lot of different schools, teach english, meet the people in the villages, learn about local plants and join making local food. Thank you Maharlika for welcoming me and teaching me about life in Banjarnegara!
