I truly adored the host family. Mejoré mi español con ellos! They are very welcoming and involved. My time here at Jungle Drake was so positive. I learned so much about the lodge Rican culture during my stay. Speaking Spanish with them never felt embarrassing. There's so many things that they teach you about sea turtles and how to lead a more sustainable life. And they very much want you to enjoy the surrounding nature. The only thing I would recommend is to pack a lot of bug repellant!

Overall a good experience - work was interesting, experience with turtles was incredible (patrol at night and the next morning), truly amazing to see the whole process, food was delicious. However, it was not located in Jaco as the offers shows but in Bahia Drake, we worked maybe 5hrs/week during off season, there wasn't much to do. No free excursions or language classes either…

The family of Victor, Nathan and Samantha is very lovely! I think I had a bit of bad luck because there were hardly any volunteers on the dates I was there, so sometimes I felt that I had nothing to do. Still, I learned about baby sea turtles (you can tell they love the project), and I was able to complete my tasks and enjoy the free time. Note that it's a very remote place; to go to the town you have to share a taxi! My recommendation: ask if there will be more volunteers (minimum 5)! Thanks :)

The hosts made me feel like family; I learned a lot about what I wanted, which was the garden and about plants; I carry in my heart the family that welcomed me as one of their own, and I gained a lot of learning. Pura vida!!!

The place is beautiful and the surrounding nature is really special, and the food is delicious. However, my experience was a little different from what I imagined. The post said that the volunteering was in Jaco and it ended up in Bahía Drake, which complicated my plans and some of the activities mentioned in the description were not available. The atmosphere inside the house was also colder than I expected. I share this with respect so that future volunteers come with clear expectations. Still, I am grateful for the opportunity to have known such a magical place.
