Luiz and the community of Arriaga made me feel so incredibly at home, even though me and him barely could speak a word of the same language (albeit his English is better than my Spanish). He was very accommodating so when I for example wanted to go to the beach and look at turtles, he made sure to give me a day to do it. The tasks are very doable and the wind helps with the heat 🤩🌼

Our stay here was wonderful. Luis is very generous and has lots of interesting insight and knowledge to share with his guests. He has a cozy home amongst many plants in a quiet part of arriaga, but walkable distance to the market in the center. It was a pleasure to spend time with him, his dogs, chickens and plants. We got to work on many interesting projects, such as transplanting mango seedlings, making seedling beds, learning to build a mobile library and painting a tree on a door. He is very patient in explaining steps to complete a project, and gives a lot of freedom to volunteers.

Working with Luis has been a great experience. I learned to set up a bed for sowing, as well as composting, and even how to plant different plants. Luis is very kind and flexible with the working hours and gladly shares what he knows.

Collaborating on the project is a sustainable option I didn't expect to find at this latitude. It lives up to what is offered for volunteering. I could choose what I would eat, and the fish is very affordable.
The activities are ongoing and very creative

An incredible experience with Luis and his family. Luis is patient, pedagogical, and passionate; he speaks with a spark in his eyes about his projects and took the time to let me try every single thing he showed me. He also introduced me to Arriaga and Tuxtla, both their magnificent natural places and their cultures. I would recommend it 1000%, thank you again for everything, Luis
