I lived light days immersed in art in São João del Rei, both with the host and on the streets; the city breathes music, especially "Choro". I was very well received by the Monk - who was with a broken leg during my stay - and by his mother, Cida, who was there helping him recover, and by Pixinguinha, the kitten who is clingy and loves to play. The tasks were light and the schedules very flexible, I was free to set my own hours and to live the city's experience, surrounded by nature, waterfalls, climbing, history... Staying in an art space was really cool. The space is right in the heart of the historic center of São João Del Rei, close to everything. You end up contributing to a variety of activities during your work period. Monge is a really nice guy, always open to dialogue, which fosters good exchanges. We had significant misunderstandings regarding what was expected from the position. Upon arrival, I slept on a mattress on the floor, in the corner of a completely disorganized room with no preparation to receive a volunteer, which was extremely uncomfortable. The next day, I had to wait for hours to be able to speak with the host. Additionally, the breakfast mentioned was not offered, and I had to cover this expense out of my own pocket. The place needs renovations and a minimal adequate structure to host volunteers. With these improvements, the experience could be positive.

There were misunderstandings: you arrived more than three hours late and I already had another commitment, as it was my first outing after an accident. Then I woke up late and failed to accompany you. The house is my gallery, dating from 1707, today a cultural center with exhibitions and workshops. The other house, modern, houses community projects.
