I had a lovely time at the eco village on their volunteering program. A standout for me would be the lovely staff who are so kind and helpful, it really was a pleasure getting to know them and see them everyday! I also got to try lots of local activities and try many new things which was great. Something to note however is that the role was not exactly what I was expecting. The structure of the program is very relaxed - the most work I did was in the garden maybe an hour of work p/d?? Also, I personally didn't receive all the benefits that were promised but I'm sure these could be arranged.

Misleading experience and benefits not honored

I paid approximately $600 upfront based on advertised benefits and 15-20 volunteer hours per week, bit was never given a schedule. Free motorbike access and surf lessons were later denied or required extra payment. The accommodation also had poor facilities, chicken noose affecting sleep, and what appeared to be bed bugs. Get everything in writing before paying upfront. Also i would write MUCH more but there’s a character limit on worldpackers, full review will be left on google.

This was a really enjoyable experience that involved a few activities over the two weeks- from attending Balinese ceremonies to getting involved in gardening work in the hotel. A specific structure was not fully followed but nevertheless you could use some days for your own activity if nothing was on. It was a great opportunity to work with and meet locals, as well as connect with some of the amazing travellers:)

My first volunteering experience was truly enriching and inspiring. I learned a lot about Indonesian culture and gained valuable insight into managing an eco-sustainable facility.
The program was flexible, and although some activities were rescheduled due to bad weather, the team always did their best to adapt to the situation. Most importantly, the staff was wonderful and made me feel at home from the very first day.
