The Experience

Our non-profit cares for rescued dogs and cats, restoring their health so they can be rehomed. We feed natural homemade food, sterilize all animals, use plant-based remedies, and stay eco-friendly by making our own products and collecting unused food from markets. Our small team welcomes volunteers who want to help and learn. Working with us means sharing your days with animals who show love. We’d always warmly welcome you into our sanctuary :)

The shelter has my heart! The people and project and animals are very special. I learnt a lot about natural medicine, caring for animals and the culture of this area. It's a great place to practice your Spanish as there are no other languages spoken. If you love animals and have the chance to go, do it!

This is a wonderful project to be part of and a truly rewarding volunteering experience. The animals are incredibly sweet and love the attention and affection they receive from volunteers.

It is also the perfect place to improve your Spanish, as almost nobody speaks English, which creates a great immersion environment and allows you to practice the language every day.

The sanctuary is located in a rather remote area, which I personally enjoyed, but I think it could be even more fun to come with a friend or another volunteer so you can share the experience together.

we are so grateful that Andrina has worked for us and became an important part of our foundation for the time she was there!
We got to know Andrina as a passionate and caring person, who works thoughtfully and throughly.
Besides from taking care of the animals, she helped us with our social media account where she did a lovely job.

we would love to welcome Andrina again in the future if she wants to come back :)

My experience in Canto a la vida was shaped by a range of emotions and situations. Despite the complexity and the context, I am very grateful for everything I learned and experienced there. The love shown by all the dogs and kittens is incredible; it is one of the things that brings me the most joy ☺️ Mrs. Gloria's preparations are delicious, and her knowledge is incredibly valuable; I am grateful for everything I learned there. Regardless of the differences, it is clear that realities and contexts are very diverse.

My experience was very good. The food was delicious, the staff were very kind, and overall, spending time with the dogs meant a lot to me. Although the quality of sleep was not the best due to the howling and barking, it is an experience I would recommend for its social impact
