A Sunflower Stop Backpackers

We are a small hostel where volunteers can interact with our guests on a more personal level. We have been here for just over 2 decades, growing the family of our return guests from all over the world. Big enough for a vibe, small enough to care.

We started A Sunflower Stop from scratch over 20 years ago. Our staff and guests are our extended family. Volunteers will become one of the family, working at our bar or tending to our Housekeeping. Filter coffee, laundry and unlimited Wi-Fi are all included.

This was a month spent with wonderful people who trained me well in the position, explored cape town with me, and assisted me with travel plans. I worked 4 days on and 4 days off, all in the evening, which gave me so much time to explore the city. Do bring a jacket because the bar area is outside (but blocked from wind and there's a fire area). I am very glad I got to work with them! There is a washer and dryer and a full kitchen to use as well.

It’s a chill little hostel but not very organized. You don’t get much training unless you ask for it. But the hours aren’t too bad - 4 days on and 4 days off. In a good safe neighborhood

This was my first volunteering experience and The Sunflower Stop was really amazing. All the staff was kind and inclusive with me, make me feel always safe and part of the family.
The place is cozy and comfortable, in a nice area close to the city centre. Every person who works there is helpful and polite. I had a really good experience, I already miss all of them a lot!

My experience volunteering at A Sunflower Stop was amazing!! I had a very good and attentive reception, the people who make sunflower happen are unique. Being able to practice my English, I had a social immersion, and several learnings. For travelers, I recommend Sunflower, a comfortable, lively place, work is fun and practical. I'm grateful for everything!! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
