It was a pleasant experience to get to know the city, to turn wood into something beautiful, a job that seems easy but requires time and patience, I really enjoyed learning about carpentry. My experience at Casa-Ateliê Marceneira was an opportunity to experience a different kind of accommodation. Lizz shares the house with guests, so there are always new people. The atelier has its own identity, with plants, wood and a routine that blends work and daily life. It was a learning and exchange experience.

I had a complicated experience with the host. She was immature, needy, and turned small problems into big dramas. At first, she said I didn't need to worry about tasks, but later she complained that I didn't get involved enough and that 'left something to be desired' — even though I asked every day what to do and carried out the tasks she asked for. Nothing seemed enough. To make matters worse, she had agreed there would be no grocery expenses and on the last day she backtracked, charging me—and only me—for the expenses, which left my friend and me very uncomfortable. I do not recommend 🫤

Alicia,
I posted your review after the deadline. Minutes later, you posted yours. Would you have written it if I had kept only the private feedback I gave you?
I have been a Superhost on Airbnb for 9 years and a Top Host on Worldpackers for a year, since I started. The friend you mention, by the way, gave and received five stars.
With you, I really messed up: I thought you were going through a rough moment and deserved other chances. But, according to your version, I would have offered ten days' stay in the house and meals—without any exchange. What do you mean??

I loved the experience! It's really like being at home, living with other really nice people. Luiza, the host and owner of the house, is really kind and is always attentive to make you feel at ease.

I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to spend some time in a quiet place without much hustle. It's also good to know that it's not in downtown Campinas, but in Barão Geraldo, which is a district of Campinas.

I carry with me very beautiful memories from this experience. ❤️

Luiza is very friendly, I was well received at the house. The tasks do not have predefined schedules, the volunteer is free to do them at the time they prefer. I could observe and participate in the renovation of a bookshelf. I learned some carpentry techniques that I found very interesting. I met two other volunteers during this period and we walked together in our free time.

The experience can work for very independent and flexible travelers who do not require guidance or feedback about the work performed. In my case, the work I performed was not reviewed or commented on, which made the exchange difficult and affected my motivation

Tatiana, there was no lack of clarity about the flexibility of the schedule and the choice of activities: there was a mismatch between what you said you would agree to and what you were willing to fulfill. This misalignment also made the experience unpleasant for me.

Fortunately, this is an atypical situation; I have no doubt that I will continue to have the amazing experiences I’ve been having with WordPackers. And, with more attention and care, you will surely have excellent experiences too!
