Bodega Fabrica de Hojalata
Volunteering with us is living inside the history of the region. This house was founded in 1725 in the Genal valley, in the heart of the Serranía de Ronda. Currently this estate has been declared an Industrial Historic Monument and Bien de Interés Cultural. Here you will be surrounded by vineyards, nature, and the tradition of making natural and organic wine. This estate is powered by solar and wind energy.
You will have the opportunity to learn up close the process of making our wines in a place with almost three centuries of tradition.
Our vineyard work calendar:
- December to January: winter pruning
- May and June: spring pruning
- August to October: harvest and winemaking. During these months activities can be physically demanding, since they include grape picking, cleaning of cellars and tanks, and grape processing, among others.
During periods of lower activity in the vineyard, tasks focus on maintaining the house (bedrooms, kitchen, common areas, bathrooms) and the spaces around the estate.
Working hours are usually variable. For example, during the summer harvest, when there are vineyard activities, work starts very early in the morning and continues into the night, to avoid the strongest sun and heat hours.
This is a project with soul, driven by the conviction to recover a place almost forgotten and restore its splendor. Our motto expresses it better than anyone: \"You arrive as a tourist and you leave as family.\" Volunteers can expect close, authentic, and generous treatment.
